Welcome to the second issue of our newsletter! Thank you for all the positive responses to our newzz-debut in spring 2009. We aim to provide you with regular information on our transactions, events and what we think about our markets. One of our business highlights in the past few months was the successful merger of two of our portfolio companies to form the uniquely positioned "Embedded Solutions House" AEM Technologies Holding AG. This group is the preliminary final result of integrating seven very promising and specialised companies within three years to form one powerful group with top-of-the-range expertise and enormous growth potential. DEALS: Ventizz merges AEM Technologies Holding AG and CardFactory AG
The business activities of AEM Technologies Holding AG (St. Gallen) and CardFactory AG (Oldenburg), which ranks among the largest RFID card manufacturers, have been merged. This transaction became effective on June 30, 2009, and results in a provider of data carriers, PCBs and computers with integrated security electronics ("Embedded Solution House"). The new company will be uniquely positioned and will operate under the name of AEM Technologies Holding AG.

INDUSTRY: Ventizz ranks among the largest 300 private equity firms worldwide
Ventizz Capital Partners ranks among the largest 300 companies worldwide in this sector. It even ranks among the largest private equity firms in both the Germanspeaking region and Europe. This is the conclusion drawn by the specialist magazine "Private Equity International" (PEI) in its annual ranking of private equity firms by size. Ventizz is the largest firm headquartered within the German-speaking region with an accumulated fundraising volume of USD 851 million over the past five years. The company ranks 64th in Europe and 288th worldwide.

OUT OF OFFICE: Ventizz sponsors the successful SSP Technology A/S sailing team
The Danish SSP team enjoyed glorious sunshine and the very best sailing weather at the European Championship just off the coast by Kiel in Germany at the start of July 2009. Ventizz supported the twoman yacht. The boat is manned by the experienced sailors and SSP's co-founders Flemming Sørensen (ex world champion in sailing) and his team member Niels Thtysøe-Hansen in the Olympic Star boat class in this competition for the first time.

BVK: Dr. Helmut Vorndran elected as member of the board
On April 22, 2009, the German private equity association BVK elected Dr. Helmut Vorndran as one of its four new board members. The board also includes Matthias Kues (NORD Holding Unternehmensbeteiligungsgesellschaft mbH), Dr. Andreas Rodin (P+P Pöllath + Partner), Dr. Gerd-Rüdiger Steffen (Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Schleswig-Holstein GmbH). In addition, Kurt Müller (Target Partners GmbH), Dr. Günther Niethammer (Odewald & Compagnie Gesellschaft für Beteiligungen mbH), Dr. Hanns Ostmeier and Dr. Peter Terhart (S-REFIT AG Regionaler Finanzierungsfonds für Innovationen und Technologieunternehmen) were reappointed. The board subsequently elected Dr. Peter Terhart as its new Chairman from its members. At the same time, Dr. Hanns Ostmeier was elected to the newly created post of BVK President. Dr. Niethammer was reappointed as Vice Chairman for a further two years.
EVENTS WITH VENTIZZ: Private Equity Dinner
What a great reaction! Within just a few months, the "Private Equity Dinner with Ventizz" that we launched in January 2009 has become a popular networking event for the corporate finance industry. More than 30 consultants, lawyers, investors and bankers at each dinner enjoyed a delicious 3-course meal and the networking opportunities. The well-attended events in Hamburg, Zurich and Vienna held during the first few months of the year focused on ersol's successful growth story. The next Private Equity Dinners will be held in Munich (September, 16), Frankfurt (October, 28) and Copenhagen (November). We will use this occasion to present a new study about investments in CleanTech, which has been complied together with Prof. Dr. Stefan Jugel at University of applied sciences Wiesbaden.
